| description | The purpose of this article was to analyze the power and influence elite in the Puerto Montt community, the capital of the Region of the Lakes in Chile, its main characteristics, and how its composition has changed over a two-decade period (1996 - 2019). To do so, it followed the methodology proposed by the "Community Power Investigation'', particularly focusing on the positional and reputational approaches, which allow us to understand the composition and characteristics of the elite and its core, organized according to Parsons's AGIL Model. Notably, the study highlights the emergence of women, executives, professionals from companies, and social leaders in the new elite, displacing men, traditional figures, or representatives of religious creeds. It is concluded that the greater presence of individuals from the social and cultural sector stands out above those from the economic and political-administrative sectors in the new elite. Regardless, individuals from these sectors still maintain a significant presence in its core due to their key influence. Finally, there is an observed continuity in the variables of gender, with a majority of men; religion, with a catholic majority; and political orientation, where there is a majority of left-leaning individuals. |

El presente artículo tuvo por objetivo analizar la élite de poder e influencia de la comuna de Puerto Montt, capital de la región de Los Lagos – Chile, sus principales características y cómo ha cambiado su conformación en un periodo de dos décadas (1996 - 2019), siguiendo para ello la metodología propuesta por la “Community Power Investigation”, particularmente las orientaciones de los enfoques posicional y reputacional, que permiten conocer la composición y características de la élite y su núcleo, ordenada según el Modelo AGIL de Parsons, donde resalta la irrupción de mujeres, ejecutivos y profesionales de empresas y dirigentes sociales en la nueva élite, desplazando a hombres, personajes tradicionales o representantes de credos religiosos. Se concluye que la mayor presencia de individuos del sector social y cultural es la que más resalta, por sobre los sectores económico y político-administrativo en la nueva élite, independientemente de que los individuos de estos sectores mantengan un mayor protagonismo en su núcleo por sus influyentes clave, por último se observa una continuidad en las variables sexo donde en su mayoría son hombres, religión donde hay una mayoría católica y la orientación política en la cual hay una mayoría de izquierda.
