A los aspectos positivos que ya conllevaba el uso del ordenador en el aula se le han añadido los correspondientes al hecho de compartir conocimientos de una forma más global. Internet también se usa dentro de la educación como herramienta administrativa, formación continuada, educación a distancia, etc. En los últimos años se han creado las redes telemáticas educativas donde se engloban todos los contenidos, propuestas y servicios específicos para el sector educativo.
