| description | Demand-side flexibility is becoming an inevitable part of the operation of power systems with large-scale integration of solar, wind, electric vehicles, etc. As a relatively new service, there’s a necessity for simple and efficient service products in the market. In most of the conventional flexibility trading products, the cost structure does not reflect implications such as the rebound effect. In order to address this problem, a novel flexibility trading market is designed based on the ‘energy loan’ concept. This report elaborately discusses the Energy Loan Exchange (ELE) market framework along with two proposed market clearing algorithms. A use case is developed involving an EV charging station, which is trading energy flexibility with households through the centralized ELE market. This case demonstrates market operation through a multi-agent simulation of stakeholder activity and market clearing. |
