O presente artigo pretende fazer um estudo de caso sobre o grupo no Whatsapp denominado "Imprensa PB 2018" (nome fictício), composto por jornalistas e comunicadores, que difundiu desinformação durante o período da campanha eleitoral no Brasil em 2018, principalmente, relacionado os cargos de presidente da República. O grupo havia sido criado com o objetivo e divulgar links e notícias relacionadas o meio político da Paraíba, mas tornou-se um canal de propagação de fake news e desinformação, que tinha a frente partidários do campo da direita da extrema direita brasileira. O Whatsapp é um aplicativo de mensagens usado por mais de 120 milhões brasileiros e transformou-se em um meio de divulgação de informações e notícias, de maneira rápida e direta, mas também é através dele que a desinformação tem circulado na Paraíba.
